Church on Labor Day

Labor day, May 1 fell on a Sunday and we attended a Born Again Christian Sunday Service. I have been into this struggle for a week now about my life and how I can improve my relationship with God. And it was a good time I had a chat with my friend Gnet then Ness about it. They both encouraged me to try attending a Christian Sunday Service.

So today is the day... It is definitely different from the Roman Catholic Mass where everything is already defined/standard and the homily is created based on the gospel. For the Born again Sunday Service, it starts will people rejoicing and singing praises to God and Jesus. Very spontaneous and the teachings are Jesus-centered. I'd say I like it a lot and is still open is attending the service again. Although as a Marian devotee myself, I had questions about how they see Mother Mary. Ness, Mon and I had a wonderful talk after the mass about Mama Mary, life, religion, beliefs.. a lot of things. It is really refreshing to attend their service, sort of renewal for me. An event that made me realize a lot of things, that I need to change some of my ways.

It will still be a long road for me but I am happy that God showed me a way to probably shorten the road and have lesser struggles. Super thankful..

Holy Week

It's very fortunate of us to be very near a church, Blessed Sacrament Church. Accessibility is important especially that we have a baby with us. Any emergency, we can go back home within five minutes time and return to church afterwards. This happened to us a few times already when Riley pooped just right after entering the church. We still were able to hear mass and Riley comfortable all throughout it.

Holy week is another chance for us to repent for our sins and be thankful to God as well for giving His own son, Jesus Christ to save all of us. I am really determined to instill to Riley the values necessary for him to be a good follower of God.

A Parent's Prayer

Being a parent is not easy. We are responsible for providing the best to our kids and make sure we are bringing them up as Godly kids. I came across this wonderful prayer that is very helpful for us parents. This prayer made me seek God's help more for me to become a parent that will bring up a kid according to His will. Here it goes:

A Parent's Prayer

Help me give my children the best... not of trappings or toys,

but of myself, cherishing them on good days

and bad, theirs and mine.

Teach me to accept them for who they are,

not for what they do;

to listen to what they say,

if only so they will listen to me;

to encourage their goals, not mine;

and please, let me laugh with them and be silly.

Let me give them a home where respect is

the cornerstone, integrity the foundation,

and there is enough happiness to raise the roof.

May I give them the courage to be true to themselves;

the independence to take care of themselves

and the faith to believe in a power

much greater than their own.

See that I discipline my children without demeaning them,

demand good manners without forgetting my own

and let them know they have limitless love,

no matter what they do.

Let me feed them properly, clothe them adequately

and have enough to give them small allowances...

not for the work they do but the pleasure they bring...

and let me be moderate in all these things,

so the joy of getting will help them discover the joy of giving.

See that their responsibilities are real but not burdensome,

that my expectations are high but not overwhelming

and that my thanks and praise are thoughtful

and given when they're due.

Help me teach them that excellence is work's real reward,

and not the glory it brings. But when it comes.. and it will..

Let me revel in each honor, however small,

without once pretending that it's mine;

my children are glories enough.

Above all, let me ground these children so well

that I can dare to let them go.

And may they be so blessed.
