I cooked everything myself hehehe.. The brownie mixture, hubby helped me prepare :) The celebration is just simple, and I made Riley eat brownies hahaha.. Bad mommy..

to bake.. hehehe.. Cel gave me her brownies recipe long before. But I just took the courage now to try baking and it's a bit of a success for me. Hehehe.. A bit because I think I can still improve the texture though for me the taste is already okay. Not too sweet, not bland. :)
I also took a shot of making oven-baked embutido and I must say I like how I got the consistency of the meat. I think I have to revise the recipe I got for a bit since I think it's not tasty enough. :) But all in-all, my effort for Riley's upcoming 7th month is paying off. :)

Attended Gian and Gayle's party at eXplorerkid, e!hub in Downtown East yesterday.. Riley cried and cried when we arrived because he is not really used to crowded and noisy place. Of course the kids are already playing and adults are doing the chika chika hehehe..
The party's nice especially seeing Batswan in SG. :) Too bad we did not have too much time to talk since Cathy is very busy with all the guests. Only Weng and me had a lot of time to talk and bond hehe..
Anyway, Riley got a party loot containing a mask. We tried to let him wear the mask and he did not remove it! hehehe.. Here's the look!

We decided to try and have lunch at Fusionopolis. Science park has daily shuttle to and from the place. See how cool their shuttle is (nicer for pink color lovers):
We had lunch at Eighteen Chefs. Some food are delish, some so-so. :) Lunch will never be complete without taking pictures of either the group or the food. This time, we opted just a group pic. :)

Hubby and I went to Suntec on a weekend for the IT show. The crowd was massive that I decided to stay at Gloria Jeans and wait for hubby get his stuff. :) Got bored and walked in the mall. Towards Aussino are rows of toy capsule vending machines and whoah! I saw a Sanrio 50th anniversary vendo machine!
It is a bit expensive for a toy costing 3sgd. But hey! It brought me back to memories where I am overly obssessed with Marron Cream and Zashikibuta. I wanted one! But but but! We don't have one dollar coins and we are in a hurry to go home. I said to myself, I have to go back! :)

On Cooking...

Since yaya does not know how to cook, I have to do it. I am actually enjoying it since I really love cooking. When hubby and I got here in SG, we are so lazy to cook because it is mostly the two of us. And our first year here, we are staying with my best friend who cooks a lot so I just cook from time to time. :)
When we finally got a place of our own, we are still lazy to cook. Probably because it is just the two of us so we'd rather buy outside. :) So now is my chance especially that we want Riley to really get use to eating home-cooked foods. It is also cheaper for us to cook at home too. Anyways, here's my creamy garlic shrimp and mushroom pasta. :) They all love it so makes me wanna try some more recipes! :)

Our replacement yaya from the Philippines arrived for quite a while. Despite confirming that we would like to get her as early as second week of January, we still have to wait long. The agency is saying that OWWA got stricter for both parties to have lesser headache. Oh well, at least I can say that Riley's yaya is worth the wait. So far we are satisfied with her so hopefully she stays that way and will only change for the better. :)
She's still afraid of giving Riley a bath so I have to be awake a bit earlier than usual to give baby a bath. But it's okay because on some things, she can really do by herself given minimal instructions. She also can take instructions and criticisms very well. So I keep praying to God that we finally got a very good yaya. Hopefully she stays with us for a long time. :)

First Birthday Preparations

I think I have to start preparing for Riley's first birthday. Time flies so fast and it seems like yesterday that we planned for his Christening. Here's a small checklist I have made to help me in preparing for Riley's first birthday.
- Set a budget - this is important so initial expectations can be set
- Choose a venue - we all need to start with a venue
- Select a theme and look for the party - Mickey or Super Mario for us
- List down initial guest list - which must be trimmed later on if there's a need
- Shortlist caterers - value for money is what we want without sacrificing the quality of food
- Shortlist photo/video supplier
- Select cake supplier - this is given for us as we we're really satisfied with Riley's Christening cake supplier, Sweets Couture
- Shortlis photobooth supplier
- Define the amenities to avail - are we getting decors? face painter? host? food carts? lechon? party coordinator? etc. This will all depend on the budget.
- List the DIY items - quickly in my mind are save-the-date card, invitations, thank you cards/tags, cubees (if time permits)
- Book the necessary suppliers - caterer, photo/video, photobooth, cake supplier
This is what I can think of now. I'm sure I have missed a few but this can help me start. :)

Office Desk

Here's my office desk.. Full of Riley stuff.. Reminds me the main purpose I am working. What I appreciate in our company is that they allow us to decorate our cubicles so that we can be comfortable and enjoy our jobs better :)
And I was seated at the far end of our our wing so I have much space. So me and my seatmates set up this "pantry". We replenish it usually on a weekly basis. So much for diet! :)

Riley's really into watching Playhouse Disney. He especially likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Special Agent Oso. Here, he looks bored but no! This is just one of the rare moments I catched him like this. Hehehe..

And when he's watching Mickey or Oso, he never notices anyone. He's too focused and it's contagious. Just look at nanay. :p
And even it is eating time, he's tulala and seems to not care about his food. But stop for a moment and he'll stare at his food asking for some more! :p Lately, we are trying not to open the TV when he's eating so he knows that he must finish eating first before doing anything else. Good that most of the time now, we feed him earlier than his fave shows because he's up earlier than usual. :)
Multi-tasker? Playing with his toy while watching tv hehe.. :)
You might think that he watches too much TV but I think not. He has his usual play, singing and reading time. Here he is playing with his toes...
and eating them! hahaha..
And oh! If he's hungry, don't mess with him! He knows what food is.. (Daddy looks afraid haha)
Here he is one time we tried giving him green mango. He loves it and when I told him he had enough, this is how he looked like. Nggiii... hehehe..

Oh wow! How can I lose weight if I have these on my office table?
One of my colleagues just got back from Pinas and gave us Muhlach's ensaymada with Ube and Choc-nut! Waaahhh.. sira ang diet neto. Another colleague handed me these chocolates. Double sira ang diet! hahaha..
But I'm really grateful for these people for being thoughtful and generous. What I will just do is eat them slowly and take my time. Distribute the calories na lang per day! hahaha.. :)

Birthday Celebration and Nanay Going Home

For the past 2 years, I am the only February celebrant in the office. This year is the same :) I have a cake personally just for me. :) They usually celebrate every end of the month so this was actually yesterday. :)
Sadly, this is also the day Nanay left SG to go back to Pinas. We'll surely miss her. Love you Nay! Come visit us soon! :)
